FIRST BATCH BREWED !!!

Matt enjoying the thrill of the first batch.
Fat City Ale was the beer we chose to break in the system.
We brewed 30 Barrels (60 Kegs) in about 10 hours.

Steve taking some first runnings gravity measurements.
We had really great results at 93% efficiency.

Matt opening the valve that lets the spent grain fall out of the
Mash tun into our new 1 yard mini dumper. We can move
the spent grain with our forklift out to our big spent grain dumpster.
A local dairy farmer hauls it away for us.

Cassidy and Kyen stopped by to say hi.

Steve does the dumping, oh baby this is fun. Five dumpster
loads later we were finished. Happy cows!!!

Congrats! Sounds like it was a great day, especially with the 93% efficiency! How long was the sparge?

We went 3 1/2 hours because of some over eager raking (new toys must be played with) and not having our variable speed pump hooked up for sparge water. It will be hooked up before next brew in a couple days. We also got a little agressive with our wort pump and sucked the grain bed down a couple times too hard. We are hoping for a 2 Hr sparge for normal process.
